NSW Smart and Skilled Qualifications

UNE Partnerships is an approved provider under the NSW Smart and Skilled program, offering government-subsidised qualifications to eligible NSW residents. The following qualifications are available under the Smart and Skilled Target Priority program and the Smart and Skilled New Entrant Trainee program.

To be eligible for Smart and Skilled funding you must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen — and be 15 years of age or over, no longer at school, and living or working in NSW.


Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance

Teaches you how to support the delivery of allied health services, understand medical terminology, and comply with infection control policies. Also covers effective communication with health professionals and patients. Duration: 1–2 years. Blended learning.

Certificate III in Business (Medical Administration)

An introduction to the role of a receptionist in a healthcare practice. Ideal for those in customer-facing roles or already working in the medical industry. Covers patient communication, medical terminology, and practice administration. Duration: 1 year. 100% online.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing/Disabilities)

Equips you with the skills to offer personalised support and care to individuals in a variety of settings, including homes, communities, and healthcare facilities. Duration: 1–2 years. Blended learning.

Certificate IV in Health Administration

Equips experienced medical administrative staff with technical skills to interpret medical terminology, manage health billing and accounting systems, support staff recruitment and induction, and coordinate customer service strategies. Duration: 2 years. 100% online.

Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting

For those looking to assist in a range of front and back-end medical and administrative tasks to support a team of medical practitioners. Medical assistants have an increasing role to play within practices, alleviating stress and workload on GPs. Duration: 2 years. Blended learning.

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

Builds the skills and abilities of emerging team leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Suitable for those whose role includes some supervisory or team leader duties, such as leading a group project or assignment. Duration: 2 years. 100% online.

Certificate IV in Project Management Practice

Essential skills to successfully plan and coordinate one or more elements of a project whilst providing direct support to project managers at all levels. Endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM). Duration: 15 months.

Diploma of Government

Ideal for those with a diverse range of responsibilities who wish to develop high-level leadership and communication skills and a deep understanding of the ethics and principles underpinning all aspects of public service. Duration: 2 years. 100% online.

Diploma of Procurement and Contracting

A specialist qualification for people working in a position with responsibility for the management of complex procurement and contracting. Duration: 2 years. 100% online.

Diploma of Project Management

Learn the methods, techniques, and tools required to plan and manage projects that achieve the goals and objectives important to project managers. Endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM). Duration: 2 years. 100% online.

Diploma of Leadership and Management

Designed for working professionals who plan, design, apply, and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems and synthesise information from a variety of sources. Duration: 2 years. 100% online.

Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management

Develop sought-after skills focused on managing the strategic direction of a business through leadership, financial management, and comprehensive business operations. Duration: 2 years. 100% online.


Am I eligible?

To access Smart and Skilled subsidised fees, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
  • Be 15 years of age or over and no longer at school
  • Be living or working in NSW

Delivery

Qualifications are delivered online (100% or blended, depending on the course) with flexible, self-paced study. Course materials are included and all assessments are submitted via the my.unep portal.
